Late checkout

There’s something about the quiet just before checkout when you don’t want to leave. The crumpled sheets, a half finished glass of champagne on the nightstand, the perfume still lingering in the air. You gather your things slowly, reluctantly, like maybe if you move slow enough, time will too.
